Annotation

Vasily Yakovlevich Shmitanovsky is the author of popular prints, including the novel "The Cursed House, or the Card Player" published in 1858 and the story "Ermak", as well as several fairy tales: the Firebird and living and dead water. 1859; Koschei the Immortal. M., 1864. P. 1-3; Baba Yaga. M., 1865; Nightingale the robber. M., 1876. P. 1-3; employee of the magazines "Son of the Fatherland" and "Entertainment". It is possible to assume that in some way V. Ya. Shmitanovsky was involved in the Polish events and in 1863 he was given to the soldiers.
