The handwritten book was prepared by RufinIvanovichDorokhov (1801-1852), who died in the Caucasus in a battle with highlanders.It was presented to Count Ivan FyodorovichPaskevich, the owner of the city of Gomel.The author became one of the prototypes of Fyodor Dolokhov in Leo Tolstoy’s novel “War and Peace”.The military path of IvanSemyonovichDorokhov is described in detail by his son, as well as his participation in military campaigns of the late 18th – early 19th centuries.On sheet 79 rev.there is a note, “This manuscript, according to late Lieutenant General Mikhailovsky-Danilevsky,belonged to him from the beginning of 1838, and was returned to me by his son, after the death of this famous Military Writer of ours.”
