Bartholomaeus Anglicus (about 1190–1272) – medieval English encyclopedist, monk of the Franciscan Order. In 1230 he was sent to Magdeburg to teach theology. Around 1250, he completed writing the encyclopedia “On the Properties of Things” (De proprietatibus rerum), which presents various aspects of medieval science: theology, medicine, astronomy, geography, etc.
