Johann Driander (1500–1560) – German medical anatomist, mathematician and astrologer. He studied anatomy and medicine at the Universities of Paris and Erfurt, and in 1535 became a professor of medicine at the University of Marburg. A year later, Driander performed two public autopsies, providing the first illustrated account of the dissection of a human brain. The scientist’s works made a significant contribution to the development of modern anatomy. He also studied astrology and mathematics.
