Historian, writer, teacher, canon Shimon Starovolsky (1588–1656) was born in the village of Starovolya near Pruzhany (Brest region). In 1608–1612 accompanied the young princes of Ostrog on a trip to Europe. In 1620–1621 - Secretary and historiographer of the Hetman Y. Khadkevich. Accompanied the sons of magnates Sapega, Pototsky, Kanetspolsky and others on their travels around Europe. Author of works on history, theology, law, politics, military affairs, economics, and music. He wrote in Polish and Latin.
