The Brest Bible was published on September the 4th, 1563 in the Brest printing house by order and with funds of the Berestye headman, the chancellor of the Grand Duchy of the Lithuanian prince Nikolai Radziwill the Black.
The Brest Bible was the first in Eastern Europe publish work of a complete Bible, also the first Protestant edition of the Bible in Polish. The Brest Bible is a masterpiece of printing art, a unique monument of printing in Belarus and the whole world.
This is the most famous publication of the first printing house on the territory of modern Belarus. The publication of the Bible is considered «the most significant event in the history of printed books in the Brest region»
